The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the players were handed provisional suspensions until its investigations into the allegations could be completed.
According to a report by Times of India, the IPL’s governing council has also asked the head of BCCI’s new anti-corruption unit Ravi Sawani to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within 15 days.
The report named the five players as TP Sudhindra (from Deccan Chargers), Mohnish Mishra (from Pune Warriors), Amit Yadav (from Kings XI Punjab) and Shalabh Shrivastava (from Kings XI Punjab) and Bali.
The BCCI earlier said that it will probe allegations of corruption in the IPL following allegations made by a local television channel.
Footage from India TV appeared to show an IPL player negotiating a fee for bowling a no-ball, while another said he received under-the-table payments above his contracted fee.

@Blunt!: Janaab IPL has not allowed a single Pak player to play in the IPL - even though we are 2007 T20 World Champs and now the Asian Champs. It is ridiculous beyond belief. As for fixing, yes three were convicted, the youngest being Mohammad Amir (19) rated the best fast bowler in the world who admitted his crime and served accordingly. The other two were proper crooks and have received due punishment. Fixing began with Cronje, Azharrudin and Jadeja back ten years ago. This IPL is known for a betting playground nothing else. And it is incomplete without Pak players - its just a farce for show and fancy entertainment. I hope the ICC shuts it down - not because I am a Pakistani - but because I love the sport and this annual bhangra is tarnishing it and the players because of the money involved. Of course Kohli, Dhoni, Raina, Tendulkar don't need to take kickbacks - the young ones do. Get my point?
@Blunt - We felt the same almost a year back when your board and media ensured individuals playing for Pakistan cricket acts were reflected on entire nation. Its a known fact that India is the biggest bookies / match fixing market and BCCI has its own share in it. If you do not believe me look at the India TV videos yourself and decide. however, ICC would never take any serious against it for very obvious reasons.
send them to pakistan. they have brighter future these.
@Saim Baig: "@Blunt And what about your cricket board who forces others not to visit or invite Pakistan. "
What is your basis for this statement? No countries want to tour Pakistan after Sri Lanka episode in Lahore. If you are referring to BCB changing their mind, you must know that it was due to a public interest litigation that wanted to protect Bangladeshi players. If you had read newspaper articles , letters and blogs in Bangladesh, you would have known there was widespread opposition to the Bangladeshi players playing in Pakistan. You can hardly argue that the security situation is much improved now compared to 2009 when the Sri Lanka incident happened?
@Wajahat Afaq: "What a shame for ICC anti corruption unit, once again they will not take action against India and IPL"
It is IPL governing board itself that is pursuing these charges and has asked BCCI to investigate. BCCI has suspended players pending an investigation. Even in the past top notch players like Jadeja and Azharuddin were banned for life by India due to corruption charges.
Any country can have bad eggs. It is how these bad eggs are dealt with, that shows the country's character. India did not accuse foreign intelligence agencis and Pakistan to be conspiring. Instead it took strong action. When similar charges had been brought against Pakistani players, PCB head Ejaz Butt acused British team also of throwing their match a statement that he was sued for and had to publicly apologize. Therein lies the difference.
@Blunt And what about your cricket board who forces others not to visit or invite Pakistan. What is that, hatred or love? Stop this Pakistan & India thing!!! Look into the issue, you have a serious one in hand. We have always believed when there is so much money involved in cricket there is a high probability of corruption. Player suspended are unknown, catch the big fishes before they bring a disgrace on you nations face.
@Blunt!: I have watched almost every single IPL game this year. I enjoy it for what it is - A great tournament and sport. Many of my friends feel the same way. Please do not suggest all Pakistanis spit venom at the success of the IPL - you get silly envious types on both sides of the boarder!
capitalism is a virus and all capitalist should be eradicated
@ALL Pakistanis:
Given the chance your players would love to feature in IPL & CL... But look how some of the Pakistanis would never stop to spit venom against India & IPL, wot hypocrites!
Its not the game or country, its the cricketers..... fixing is a Personal choice...!
IPL is like a circus... seriously.... sleeze... and circus... why is it even taken seriously? Would you make such a fuss if something of this sort came out about WWE?
@Sachin: Accroding that report they were spot fixing no-balls for INR 50,000. Aren't these player contracted for min 40-50k USD by their franchises? So the problem is greed for more, regardless how well they are paid.
About time someone exposed the real "IPL". These 5 are just scapegoats - the whole thing is based on match fixing and betting. Raina and Kohli's may not need to do such actions - plenty others do. Thank God Pak players are not involved nor play in IPL. It is so easy to tell which IPL game is fixed - I stopped watching a long time ago. Now enjoy your Russian "cheerleaders" - lols
@Ashvinn every thing and advice is looking stupid at earlier stage but shows impact after some time, there are lots of examples in this world, read history care fully and understand that BCCI is not God, there are lots of so called past Gods are buried in sand and no one knows their names, remember Lilit Modi, he was the father of IPL now he is ban in India, Ban on BCCI would be a great impact on Cricket future other wise continue this gambling and enjoying in a fake mode.
@Pungi: Rest assure the three in London were convictet and there was ample amount of proof ! These five will also face a serious backlash for their conduct too !
@Wajahat Afaq: ban bbci :D haha stupid rant
This a virus, which need to be eradicated from the beautiful game !
So this is IPL?? Thank God no Pakistani was playing there...otherwise India would have as usually blamed Pakistan without any context & without any proof...!
These 5 players are scapegoat. If you look at the India TV videos its mainly abt franchisees providing black money to players and BCCI knowing about it. Let see how ICC deals with this (though I am least expecting any action from ICC as BCCI is there main donor)
Pakistanis should opt out of Champions League, if they think playing in India is a bad idea.
Sadly, if Pakistan does such thing, it will once again push itself to be a pariah in World Cricket.
This is a joke.
There are sharks involved in all sorts of gambling and illegal activities in IPL and these dishonest imbeciles suspend 5 silver fish.
@Buy&Sell in Pakistan: It actually makes sense! Raina and other players are very well reputed and they are unlikely to do such thing! And players like Raina, Dhoni, Kohli etc get enough money from ads, sponsors etc so obviously they wouldn't go for 'fixing' .
What a shame for ICC anti corruption unit, once again they will not take action against India and IPL, i am asking why we see and take interest in these type of tournaments which are scripted and money machines just like WWE wresting mania, this Indian behavior is damaging cricket purely, every suspect accepted that match fixing is coming from India in each and every tournament Indian bookies are involved in match fixing, but why no one take action against them, are they powerful, big sponsors big crowd on these benefits can ICC destroy Cricket culture, no please take voice against Indian Cricket Board and ICC, its a time now to save cricket from these culprits, Cricket was the game of Don Bradman, Jack Hobbs and Hanif Muhammad not for these so called Cricketers.
am surprised. They have suspended those guys who are little know, the cricketing world don't know these guys. BCCI never took action against Raina and this sting operation has also proved that IPL is not clean from corruption.
For a change, India TV has done something productive.
