ABBOTABAD:

Two suspects arrested in a murder case confessed of pushing a 17-year-old girl from the third storey of a building, police sources told The Express Tribune on Wednesday.

Hina Bashir, a second year student at a private college, was critically injured when she fell from the third floor of an empty commercial building on April 26. She was admitted to Ayub Medical Complex where she was operated on; however, she slipped into a coma and died of injuries after seven days.

The Mirpur police then arrested two of her classmates after tracing her phone records and also recovered some of her belongings from the building. However, they were later set free as the police failed to find any evidence against them.

On Tuesday, the police arrested two Suzuki drivers who confessed that they took the girl to the building and were ‘forced’ to push her down the window when she tried to resist sexual assault. The police said they are searching for another suspect, and assured that he will be arrested soon. The SHO refused to disclose the names of the suspects, saying it could hamper investigations.
