LAHORE:

“Student wings of political parties have been hampering academic activities in institutions. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will use its students support to nurture a future leadership for the country,” Imran Khan said on Monday.

Khan was addressing students from various institutions at an event organised by the Insaf Students Federation, the PTI student wing.

“The first thing that needs to be done is to impose an ‘education emergency’ in the country,” he said, adding, that the PTI youth would never let their education suffer or be tempted to wield weapons.

Khan said his sports career had taught him how to compete.

He said nations rarely got a chance to change their fortune and the youth of Pakistan were fortunate to avail the chance.

“A champion is not always the one with most talent. A champion is one with the instinct to avail the opportunity when his opponent makes a mistake,” he said.

Quoting from a recent survey by the International Republican Institute (IRI), Khan said the PTI’s popularity was increasing.

Imran Khan, in his address, urged the students to join hands with the PTI in its movement if the government did not comply with the Supreme Court orders.

He said if the prime minister appealed his conviction did not accept the court verdict, the PTI will march towards Islamabad. That, he said, will be the biggest march in the history of Pakistan.

Khan said that the Insaf Students Federation and the PTI would start a membership campaign from Lahore in few days, hoping to take the membership to 10 million.

He said all other political parties in the country were into dynasty politics.

Calling the coalition government a ‘coalition for corruption’, Khan said Pakistan was the only country where the prime minister was a convict.

He said the Punjab made 60 per cent of Pakistan’s population and if Nawaz Sharif forced an election in the province, the entire country would go to polls. However, Khan said, the PML-N chief would not do so.

He concluded by quoting Abraham Lincoln as saying, “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”
