'Time to move on from Cameron's statment'

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that it is necessary to move on from British Prime Ministers statement.

LAHORE: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that it is necessary to move on from British Prime Minister David Cameron's anti-Pakistan statement for the sake of long standing relations.

Talking to the media at Lahore Airport on Saturday, the foreign minister claimed that Britain has realised Pakistan's important role in the war on terror.

Qureshi also said that the meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and British Prime Minister David Cameron will help to get rid of misunderstandings.

He said that Pakistan wants to resume composite dialogue with India and that the delay in the dialogue was only from the Indian side.

He urged India to stop delaying tactics, as Pakistan seeks meaningful dialogue with its South Asian neighbor.

Ammad | 14 years ago | Reply If British doesn't care about long standing relations then why should we, its from both sides always. Very soon they will realize the importance of relations with Pakistan considering the strategic importance of our country, we at least should have shown that we didn't like this, now what would they get from this, that whatever we say to them they are our slaves and we can embarrasse them any time and they would not even react. That's quite different from India, if someone blames them their response is always a tough one and representing displeasure, not like our slave rulers.

Mariam Shah | 14 years ago | Reply Precisely. He said it not once but twice; first in India, then in England. He meant it and never took it back. We already have tense relations with India - if he doesn't want to help, alright but don't add fuel to the fire. At the end of the day we are the one's that have to deal with the consequences not him. And Pakistan should show Britain that they aren't happy with what they said. It was politically incorrect of Cameron to do that and if we don't start standing up for ourselves we'll continue to get walked all over.

fatima | 14 years ago | Reply it seems like mr.shah mehmood qureshi is the foreign minister of the rest of the world other than pakistan.by the above statement he clearly projects that pakistani government has no integrity and it can easily forget the anti pakisatn statement by the british prime minister so any xyz person can say anything abt pakistan and guess what we can forget because we have to maintain long standing relationships. wake up qureshi. its high time u understand what sovereignity really is!
