Talking to Pakistan Television, Butt said that 118 bodies, which had been shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), had been identified and handed over to relatives of the victims.
Talking about the all important ‘black box’ of the plane, the chairman said that it was found on Friday and would be sent to a foreign country for decoding - the data will hopefully provide insights to the actual cause of the crash.
Replying to a question regarding rescue efforts being carried out at the crash site, he said that soon after the plane crash, the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) was activated at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and a team reached the spot to take part in the rescue and relief operation.
Butt further said that rescue workers from Pakistan Army, Air Force, Navy, Rescue 1122, Fire Brigade of Capital Development Authority (CDA), Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Polyclinic and other local hospitals, Edhi Emergency Services and Al-Khidmat Foundation were also utilised during the rescue operation, adding that the local community also helped in the rescue operation.
“A special search and rescue team of CDA also participated in the rescue operation to handle the operation in minimum possible time,” he said.
