Pension release: Court reserves verdict on Mirza case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday reserved verdict on a petition filed by journalist Shafqat Tanvir Mirza who sought release of his pension from the National Press Trust (formerly Progressive Papers Limited). Arguments were completed on Wednesday. The Trust’s lawyer said they could not pay him as he was a private employee. Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan observed that the petitioner was a national hero. Mirza’s lawyer Syeda Maqsooma Zahra Bokhari said they were insulting the petitioner by saying he was a private employee. The judge said the court will decide the case on merit and reserved the verdict.
