LAHORE:

A police official who got into an argument with a lawyer after they got in each other’s way was beaten up by the lawyer and his colleagues at the District Courts on Wednesday.

Constable Muhammad Raza told The Express Tribune that he was attacked by Advocate Muhammad Kashif after Kashif asked him to get out of his way. Raza, who was escorting prisoners to the lock-up at the courts, said he responded that there was plenty of room for him to walk past. The lawyer took offence to this and he and his colleagues thrashed the constable, leaving him with tattered clothes, said Raza.

Kashif, however, said that the constable had slapped him when he asked him to move and that was how the altercation started.

The lawyers, after beating up the constable, had said they would take him to the police station and get a case registered against him. They later released him after discussions between police and bar officials.
