LAHORE: Lahore High Court Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction over the National Press Trust (NPT) for not submitting the proper reply to the court. The court gave the NPT till April 18 to submit its final arguments. The judge is hearing a petition filed by senior journalist Shafqat Tanvir Mirza against the NPT (formerly Progressive Papers Limited), his former employer, for withholding his pension benefits. The judge said, “The nation should respect those who spend their lives serving other people.” The NPT submitted a reply in the court. However, the petitioner’s counsel objected to parts of the reply saying that the respondent authority had made derogatory remarks against her client. Justice Khan observed that the petitioner was not seeking alms or charity, but his right.
