Man approaches court to find missing son
Left with no other avenue, a man has approached the court for his missing son’s recovery. Mehboob Elahi, a resident of Taxila, filed a petition with the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench on Wednesday, accusing intelligence agencies of keeping his son in illegal detention since last year. Justice Shahid Hameed Dar will hear the petition through advocate Imran Shafique on April 12.
Listing the defence secretary, inspector general of Punjab, Rawalpindi city police officer and station house officer Taxila as respondents, the petitioner said his son Zeeshan left his house on May 23 last year to see his friend Muhammad Waqas in Gujranwala.
“When we could not contact Zeeshan on his cell phone, we got in touch with his friend’s family and found out he had also gone missing on the same night,” said the petitioner.
An abduction case was registered with the Taxila police, while Waqas’s family also lodged a complaint with the Civil Lines police in Gujranwala.
“A few months back, I found out that Waqas had returned home. When I contacted his family, they said my son was in the custody of intelligence agencies and they would release him after interrogation as they released Waqas,” said Mehboob.
However, Zeeshan didn’t come home, leaving his father with no option but to approach the court for justice.
The petitioner claimed his son was not involved in any criminal or anti-state activity.
