LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Nisar Ahmed on Monday summoned the Shadbagh station house officer (SHO) and investigation officer (IO) for April 19 on a pre-arrest bail petition filed by a couple and their four children.

The counsel for Iqtidar Ahmed, his wife Rukhsana, and their sons Ahsan, 15, Abdul Rehman, 12, Sultan Mehmood, 10, and Abu Sufyan, 6, said his clients were being harassed in a false case as the children had been accused of assault and making death threats. The judge set pre-arrest bail for the couple and their three older sons at Rs10,000 each, and for Abu Sufyan at Rs100.

The petitioners’ lawyer urged the court to question the IO and SHO as to what evidence they had for including the children in the FIR, registered by Naseem Bibi under Sections 148 (rioting armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 354 (assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 452 (house trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code. He said that a case could not be registered against the children under the Juvenile Act.

Naseem stated in the FIR that on April 7, her daughter Hira and Abu Safyan got into a fight and she intervened. Later, she said, the accused armed with clubs and iron chains forced their way into her home and started beating her and her daughters. She said that some neighbours intervened and rescued them, after which the accused fled while making death threats.
