The Siachen tragedy (II)

Letter April 09, 2012
These brave men beckon young generation of Pakistan to join the army and know what it takes to truly love the country.

KARACHI: The severe weather conditions at Siachen have taken the lives of many of our brave soldiers in the past but nature has never been this cruel before. There are many untold stories of bravery, valour and of sacrifice of the men of Pakistan Army who take up challenges beyond the call of duty.

Such incidents act as a great reminder to society of what it takes to be a soldier. The army has a way of life in which sacrifices are cherished and such incidents only reminds all those in uniform about the reason behind their joining the armed forces i.e., to never give up the fight when performing their duties, both in peace and war.

Now buried under tons of snow, these brave men beckon the young generation of Pakistan to join the army and know what it takes to truly love the country.
