Events of Saturday, which saw one policeman being killed along with at least 10 people being killed in different incidents follows from a month full of violence, which has seen an alarming trend of police officers being targeted.
As the ban comes into effect from 8 am Sunday, April 8,2012, the city will be looking back at the deaths of over 60 people including political workers and policemen have been killed in a city since March 27. Police, who have been at the receiving end of some target killing by assailants ridding pillion on motorbikes, have also failed in apprehending the culprits.
Additional IG, Karachi Akhtar Hussain Gorchani while putting the city police on high alert has also ordered his troops to enhance patrolling and snap checking, warning that Superintendents of Police (SPs) would be punished if any attack on law enforcers occurred within their respective jurisdictions.

Well, you see these deaths are caused by guns, not by pillion riding. How about removing guns rather than beating about the bush on this issue? No one gets the benefit of this except the transport mafia.
