US bounty on Hafiz Saeed: Pakistan demands proof supporting allegations
The US announced a reward worth $10 million for the capture or any information leading to the capture of Saeed, making him one of the most wanted persons in the world.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson further added that the judiciary in Pakistan is free and take decisions according to the constitution.
Saeed, earlier responding to the US bounty during a press conference in Rawalpindi said that he will be in Lahore tomorrow and the US can contact him whenever it wants. “The bounty is always set on people who are in hiding… There is no case against me in any American court,” he maintained while terming the bounty absurd.

@Milkek, When the judicial commission went to India, it was agreed that they would record the statements of the judges and officials ONLY. They were not going to re-try the case or cross examine the witnesses , which only Indian judges can do. There were no surprises. Its Pak media that fed lies about 'not being allowed to question Kasav' , when it was fully agreed no such thing was on the cards. What Pakistan is doing is just drama-baazi.

I have not seen any judgement against any criminals so there is no reason Judges have to hide or run away. I remember one judge went for Umra and people were saying he ran away. The gangsters all belong to political parties, who will give evidene against them. If they have then they would have convicted.

I must admit what you say on the voice samples and the technical aspects sounds convincing. However, India has asked for voice samples many times and probably in each dossier. Chidambaram had personally and directly asked Rehman Malik to provide voice samples of Hafiz Saeed. Every time Pakistan has refused to provide the voice samples. So, there is more to it than the technicalities you have explained and my assumptions may not be entirely correct too. The important point is that Pakistan has repeatedly refused to provide voice samples. Pakistan could have provided voice samples at least to prove Hafiz Saeed is not the same person on the recordings.
@Raj - USA: Haha dude, as a musician whose job involves audio sampling in many forms, some of your presumptions are astounding. You're assuming that all intelligence agencies are operating without any audio engineering advice. To analyze and match 2 voices, all you need to do is take a sample from any source, for example a video of Hafiz Saeed speaking (even as LQ as Youtube will do) and run it through a spectrum analyzer with the intercepted conversation simultaneously. At some point, if the visualized waveforms start overlapping, you have your man. If I know this, you think the CIA doesn't?
Also, in case you didn't know, Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces, Barry Obama can order a drone strike on anyone, anywhere in the world extra judicially, why isn't he doing it here? I suspect he knows they don't have much of a case on him, so the best they can do is make it look like the Pakistani establishment (18 years and I still have no idea who that is lol) is sheltering Saeed ala Taliban sheltering OBL. Hmm...this is all happening very quickly.

The same court that has not convicted even a single terrorist who has been charged and produced before the court by Pakistan Security Agencies for killing Pakistanis within Pakistan. Yes everyone knows about Mumtaz Quadri. One great service Quadri did for Islam was to send the Judge who convicted him on a life long Haj Pilgrimage with his family.

@Hero: We both know this would be a great waste of time. Now if your position is that PAK has done nothing up to now and will not do nothing so going forward, then we can agree. That PAK has chosen this path is of course it’s right as a sovereign nation. There is no requirement for the US to provide PAK with anything as it would appear as far as PAK is concerned he has broken no laws. The US feels he is envolved in the murder of Americans which is in fact against American law. Therefore the American judical system will deal with this just as the PAK judical system chose to how to deal with Raymond Davis.

Bye the way, violence in Kashmir in 2011-2012 , is at a 22-year-low, lower than almost any part of Pakistan and parts of India.
Of the average 2,000 dead in Kashmir violence in last 23 years ( 1989-2012 ) consist of
Civilians killed by militants. This makes 60% or more of the casualities. a. Muslim civilians , who do not support the seperatists , make the majority of civilians killed. Many prominent kashmiri muslim leaders of too have been killed by seperatist militants. b. Hindu civilians : These are targetted killing of Hindus, that has resulted in Kashmiri Hindus fleeing from the Valley of Kashmir. Over 300,000 Kashmiri Hindus have fled the valley. Militants killed. a. Militants from Pakistan Punjab , make 60-70% of militants killed in Indian Kashmir. b. Militants from Kashmir. Security personnel killedThe government numbers are fairly accurate , as India is a democratic state, Jammu and Kashmir has a judiciary and police thats 90% Muslim Kashmiris in the valley. So records are provided by them.
Bye the way, Indian government does not have state funded militants groups that wreck violence , as compared to many state sponsored actors and groups in the neighbouring country. Mr Hafeez Saeed just happens to be a 'state sponsored actor'.
It is job of Pakistan to investigate and find 'proof' in 'their own country' , not to ask other countries (and when given proof, saying 'its literature'). Or else Pakistan should hand over its administration, government and police system to India or America. we'll investigate and find proof. Shameless .

Muslim non-seperatists killed by Militants ( most of them punjabis from Pakistan ) in Kashmir ( they make up 70% of deaths ) 3. Militants killed by security forces ( thats only 20% of total militant related deaths in Kashmir )

Pakistan is in no position to "demand" anything. As far as international law is concerned Pakistan is in violation of the binding post-9/11 UNSC resolutions forbidding states to harbor terrorists and terror-training camps; the fact that Pakistani laws don't conform to this standard doesn't make a difference. As a state in violation of UNSCR 1373 Pakistan has no sovereignty in this matter.

10 M$ are precisely for such evidence which will lead to his conviction, and probably even in a Pakistani court which does not seem to have enough means to collect such evidence by itself.

As far as the protection of its citizens and conviction of culprits who harm US Citizens anywhere in the World, US laws extend worldwide. Yes, if Hafiz Saeed is proved innocent, he shall be released, but Hafiz Saeed cannot avoid his presence in the US courts and collection of his voice samples as evidence to prove his involvement in Mumbai attacks. US Government takes its obligation to its Citizens very seriously. Remember Ajmal Khansi. He was brought back to USA for conviction by US Court. He was officially handed over to USA by Pakistan Government. Pakistan Government accepted right of US to legally try offenders of US citizens in US Courts and a precedent has been set. With this demand from Pakistan for proof, US shall demand Pakistan allow and facilitate collection of voice samples of Hafiz Saeed. Musharaffs book "In the Line of Fire" details the number of Pakistanis who were handed over to US by Pakistan Government to face charges in USA. If Pakistan does not allow or facilitate collection of Hafiz Saeed's voice samples, there would be consequences.

USA has decleared this bounty of Pakistan Rupees 95 CRORES ($10 MILLION) for the INFORMATION leading to Hafiz's ARREST and CONVICTION; it is not for killing him.
Any Pakistan can be richer by sharing clear evidence against Hafiz; Some one in Pakistan army may be enticed by this offer as they did in case of Aimal Kansi or many other terrorists wanted by USA. Did Pakistan asked USA then about the proof? I guess not.
As far as setting him free by the Pakistan courts is concerned, no court in Pakistan has found guilty any of the 600 plus terrorists arrested by the ISI and convicted. This includes those who attacked GHQ. So stop talking about the mortals in Judiciary who are scared of their lives just by seeing any low ranking Jehadi, not to talk about Amir-e-jehadi Hafiz Sayeed who has been hand in gloves with ISI since last 20 plus years.

Do you think that Osama Bin Laden could have been convicted by any Pakistani court ? Even if the courts werfree ( a dubious assumption ) , the state would not collect and provide the evidense to the court. Thats exactly the reason why the 26/11 perpetrators are not going to be convicted in Pakistan while Headley ( Daood Gilani ) is already convicted and sentenced by Chicago court while his accomplishes in Pakistan are free.
Hafiz Saeed is like lion of Pakistan. A lion who never afraid of India, America & Israel infact came infront of media with brave attitude, giving the message to other, dare to ask, always challenged the blames and myths of enemies in every field and is proved innocent by Pakistani courts. At the time when suicide bombs were on peak, hafiz Saeed came forward and announce fatwa against suicide attacks on muslims even on innocent non muslims, he believes in education for males and females as well, he is running a wonderful NGO, providing free food, education. Sheltar and hospitalized cure, treatment both muslims and non muslims with no differentiate between them. How can America bear this beautiful personality who is muslim fundamentlist, extremist, extreme compassionate, lover ?
