Although most schools that have been attacked taught girls, this school in the district’s Ibrahim Zai area is a primary school for boys.
An official of the Bomb Disposal Squad confirmed that 12 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the explosion, which destroyed two rooms and the school’s boundary wall. An FIR has been registered against unidentified attackers.
Charsadda EDO Attaullah told The Express Tribune that of the 11 schools attacked, five were rebuilt by the Parent-Teacher Councils in the cities of Shabqadar, Tangi and Charsadda.
According to Ataullah, the government has stopped paying salaries to watchmen of destroyed schools.
He said that to ensure security for schools, the administration is planning to establish village-based committees comprising officials from police and the education department as well as local elders.
Last month, an explosion had partially damaged the newly-constructed campus of Abdul Wali Khan University in Charasadda.
