ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore Syed Hasan Javed has stated that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Singapore has increased to $2 billion and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Singapore to Pakistan is also approaching the same level, according to a message received here from Singapore.  Javed further said that Asean’s needs; for energy resources, food security and markets for its exports; demands a new level of partnership and cooperation with Pakistan. “Our trade with Asia is more than any other region of the world,” he added. On the occasion, Singapore’s Minister of State for Finance and Transport Josephine Teo said more and more Singapore companies are looking towards Pakistan as the emerging market’s next frontier of economic growth.  She said that this is reflective of the keen interest of the Singaporean private sector small and medium enterprises in exploring Pakistan markets.
