Misbehaviour: Lawyer’s licence suspended

LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) on Monday suspended a lawyer’s licence to practice. Advocate Mohsin Nabeel’s licence was suspended for slapping a civil judge, Azhar Ali Jafri. The PbBC’s executive committee chairman issued the order. Nabeer has been directed to appear before the Bar’s disciplinary committee on March 22. The case was forwarded to the PbBC by the district bar association. A meeting was called after civil and additional judges in the district boycotted work following the lawyer’s assault on Judge Syed Azhar Ali. Ali was attacked after he had rejected Nabeel’s client’s bail plea. Witnesses said the lawyer and the judge had earlier exchanged harsh words over the former’s repeated requests that the judge hear his case before schedule so that he could attend another hearing.

This rogue lawyer should be imprisoned for at least 7 years for assaulting the judge who was on duty.
