Re-Election: By-polls for PS-53 on April 26

Seat was left vacant due to the disqualification of Pakistan Peoples Party’s Waheeda Shah.

ISLAMABAD: Election authorities have announced a new schedule for elections of the Sindh Assembly seat PS-53 that was left vacant due to the disqualification of Pakistan Peoples Party’s Waheeda Shah. In the Sindh Assembly constituency that falls in Tando Muhammad Khan-cum-Hyderabad, polling will be held on April 26. The ECP has asked the returning officer to issue public notice for by-polls on March 19. According to the schedule, nomination papers can be filed on March 21 and 22. The returning officer will scrutinise the nominations on March 26 and 27. Appeals against RO’s decisions can be filed by March 29. The election tribunals would have to decide such appeals by April 2 and contesting candidates would be able to withdraw their candidature by April 3rd.
