Cricket: Afghanistan make it three in three

Afghanistan and Namibia were the only two sides left with perfect three-win records at the World Twenty20.

DUBAI: Favourites Afghanistan and Namibia were the only two sides left with perfect three-win records at the World Twenty20 qualifying tournament. Defending champions Afghanistan sank Denmark by 89 runs, while Namibia overpowered the US by 17 runs. In other matches of the day, Canada routed Hong Kong by eight wickets, Kenya beat Oman by 35 runs and Papua New Guinea defeated Nepal, also by 35 runs. Ireland defeated Italy by two wickets, Scotland beat Uganda by 34 runs and the Netherlands edged out Bermuda by four runs. After three rounds of matches in the 16-team event, Afghanistan lead Group A with three wins from as many matches while the Netherlands, Canada and Nepal have two wins from three matches. In Group B, Namibia lead the pack, followed by a four-way tie for second place between Italy, Uganda, Ireland and Scotland.
