A city celebrates: Hamara Karachi Festival to go on till April 7

The Hamara Karachi Festival kicked off on March 13 with a milad at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi Mazaar.

With an aim to highlight the city’s culture and heritage, the Hamara Karachi Festival kicked off on March 13 with a milad at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi Mazaar.


Nasreen Jalil, president of festival’s organising committee and former naib nazim of Karachi, said that the festival had been organised every year for the last five years. This year the theme of the festival is ‘Hamara Karachi, Hamara Pakistan’. It is being organised in collaboration with the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC). While talking to The Express Tribune, KMC’s culture director Khurheed Shah said that they had planned musical performances, mushairas, donkey cart racing, ferryboat rides, inter-faith evenings, fireworks, seafood festival, flower, painting and photo exhibitions. Shah added that they would also set up food-streets at Burns Road, Boat Basin and North Nazimabad. The events will be held all over the city, including Clifton, Nazimabad, Gulshan, MA Jinnah Road, FB Area and Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
