“The people who have tried to be the champions of democracy, the provincial chief minister is the biggest among them,” Awan said while talking to the media on Saturday.
She also mentioned Roedad Khan, the former political cell in-charge, and requested the Supreme Court to make him a respondent in the Mehrangate scandal.
According to Awan, Khan had pressurised former Mehran bank chief Younis Habib to open fake cases against President Asif Ali Zardari and conspired to add his name in other fabricated cases.
She added that the current situation of Pakistan is because of the fact that institutions try to interfere in matters falling out of their jurisdiction. “All institutions should work within their defined boundaries.”
Boasting about Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) struggle to keep up democracy in the country, Awan stated that the nation will see PPP’s struggles when history is written. “Peoples Party wants to be alive in history, not in the headlines.”
Answering a query regarding the rising poverty in the country, Awan said that PPP’s manifesto is ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makaan’ and it is democracy which will provide the people with these things. “Today the problem is of demand and supply… by the end of this year, we will try our best to also handle the energy crisis.”

@Ishrat Salim: u dont wanna accept that Nawaz Shareef took money from ISI, NS is not an innocent, brother
PPP and ZAB was responsible for the surrender of drunk Gen Yehya Khan in E. Pakistan, presence of OBL and his harem, Mehran Base, Bogus voter's lists by Gen Mush's govt and all the plundering of generals. ZAB made a political cell but with dictatorial powers for decades Gen Zia abused them, Mush exploited them and military fully gained. Yet PPP who has been on the receiving end is responsible. Military is never responsible for anything in Pakistan. However, the Friends of Democratic Pakistan are not that naive and would make sure that the culprits are brought to the court of law and not continue to usurp. Asghar Khan’s case is only the tip of the iceberg and that is why the rightwing touts are upset.

You call it balanced reporting? Perhaps a third class rag will use this style, not expected from ET !
You go girl! A note for all the PMLN fans, this corrupt and incompetent government is still with us thanks to Nawaz Sharif and his "friendly" politics and his Musharraf phobia. Zardari has played Nawaz like a champ; PMLN is just as unpopular as the PPP and is now only left confined to Central Punjab. A note to these crooks, if you play with fire there is a good chance you'll get burned; the day the Army says enough then no SC, Media, or the so called civil society will be able save the skins of these two-bit crooks
Honorable minister should apologize to that Chinese delagation who was forced to wait more than 1-1/2 hour for a meeting with her some months back. The delgation left in protest without meeting.
