PESHAWAR:

Chairman of his own faction of Pakistan Peoples Party Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, who survived a suicide attack on Saturday, in Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, has demanded that measures should be taken to ensure voters’ safety in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Speaking to reporters at his residence Sherpao said on Sunday that “military operations are not a solution to the menace of terrorism in the region”. He added that pro-active negotiation involving all political parties and military leaders was the only solution to the problem.

Condemning the militant violence, Sherpao said, “There can be no solution until you do not understand ground realities”.

Saturday’s suicide attack on Sherpao was the second attack on political parties in K-P in less than a week.

Two people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated the explosives while Sherpao’s vehicle was passing by in the Kangra area, on the outskirts of Shabqadar Town in Charsadda district on Saturday.

It is a serious situation for Mr Sherpao, I hope best for him. But he should think what he supported when he was the Interior Minister and the agenda he followed that time. Now he talks of negotiations, because he knows that he has to be lucky every time while they 'once'. Again I pray nothing happens to him of anyone else along with him.
