Universities to collaborate on research

Vice chancellors ink MoU to cooperate in academia.

The Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences of Balochistan (LUAWMS), and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday. The universities have agreed to collaborate in academia and research activities in a bid to help the agricultural sector of the country flourish. The MoU was signed by the Vice Chancellors of both the universities at the UAF campus.


The delegation from Lasbela University visited labs and farms and inspected work being carried out under various projects.

According to the MoU, the UAF will provide consultancy services in setting up lab facilities in LUAWMS, while both universities will share scientific research and collaborate on workshops and seminars. The varsities wish to boost agricultural productivity in the country.

UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, while commenting on the state of agriculture, stressed on the need to adopt modern methods in agricultural practice to overcome food insecurity in the country. He also called for raising awareness among the masses in the conservation of water.

LUAWMS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Hammed Bajoi reiterated, and also praised the UAF for making valuable contributions to the field of agriculture in the form of researches and producing manpower. He said that water resources, a prerequisite for life and agriculture, are shrinking while the country is threatened by an ever growing population. He said that it is the time to take extraordinary measures to cope with these problems.
