Lawyers’ Murder: Two get death, two life terms

Three men were given benefit of doubt and acquitted of the charges.

FAISALABAD: Two men were sentenced to death by Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Mehmood Bajwa on Monday in a murder case in Nishatabad police station.  Two others were given life sentences. Three men were given benefit of doubt and acquitted of the charges. According to the prosecution Iftikhar, Naeem, Imran, Ali Sher, Riaz, Khalid and Aslam had killed lawyer Aslam Randhawa at his house in Chak 4 JB about two years ago. It said the families of the culprits and the lawyer were not at good terms. After recording evidence and statements of the witnesses the judge found four men guilty and sentenced Iftikhar and Naeem to death and Imran and Ali Sher to life in prison under section 302-B of the Pakistan Penal Code. The judge also sentenced them to another seven years in prison and imposed Rs10,000 fine on each. Riaz, Khalid and Aslan were acquitted of the charges.
