Khalid*, a canteen salesman at the new campus of Punjab University (PU) is referring to the unofficial ban on select beverages at the university campus by the the Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) -- an ongoing protest that was formulated after the publishing of controversial Danish caricatures of the Prophet (PBUH) in 2005.
The IJT, the student wing of the Jamat-e-Islami is known to interfere in the management of not just students affairs at Punjab University but the faculty as well. One duty the IJT assumes as its own is to control what is sold, where and to whom. Their control of such matters ensures that even while discussing regulations forced by the IJT on canteens, Khalid was scared of being seen speaking to this scribe or being overheard commenting against the IJT.
For years only “Shandy Cola” was allowed to be sold on campus, a drink that students found “tasteless”. Shezan a local product was also banned by the IJT because the manufacturers were Ahmadis. This ban on beverages was partially lifted in 2008, however, canteen workers, owners and students say beverage distributors pay the IJT for permission to sell specific products.
Javed Sami, Residential Officer Punjab University who is in charge of canteen contracts and what will be sold at the new campus claims “Shezan is not sold because it is not in demand any more. If you look around, many shops do not sell Shezan. That is why it is not available at the campus canteen.”
The IJT cabinet’s new President Rai Haq Nawaz says “We just represent the students, and because Shezan is owned by Ahmadis, the students do not want it on campus and that is why we do not allow it.”
Aside from banning beverages, the IJT also plays the role of moral police at PU. The reason why Muhammad Aslam* had to stop selling shawarmas at his tuck shop was because the IJT told him that “too many male and female students hang out” outside his shop and eating this food item was their excuse. Aslam, who has been running the tuck shop at PU's new campus for 12 years says he could sense an ultimatum when given one from the IJT.
Given that he had been roughed up and had his shop closed down on more than one occasion, Aslam was forced to stop sale of shawarmas. Aslam claims that the reason he was targeted was because he asked members of the Jamiat cabinet to return Rs 18,000 which they owed him.
“They used the excuse of opposite sexes mingling to shut me up” said Aslam.
Haroon*, a BS student and former IJT member says “I remember we as a group used to go to canteens and eat as much as we wanted to, then the group told the canteen workers that our Nazim would pay, but those payments were never made.”
Haq Nawaz the IJT President refutes this. “We have to control the quality of food items being sold, so sometimes we even close down the canteens which we think are not meeting the standards,” he said.
To this end, a “Food and Price Control Committee” has been set up by the IJT. The price list with the IJT logo, signed by the current chairman of the committee Nauman Zafar, an IJT member and student at Law College is pasted outside every canteen, tuck shop and cafeteria on campus including those in the hostels.
The IJT says this price control committee is formed by their organisation, the students, and canteen workers, but the PU administration denies this.
Sami says “the IJT is lying, they are trained to lie and I say this on authority that the committee is formed by us and our representative heads it.” He adds that “the ban on beverages was lifted by the current VC as well.”
These official and unofficial authorities at the campus add to the woes of the canteen owners, who say that in order to open a canteen, they speak to the Residential Officer and then to the Jamiat as they need the permission of both.
Hanif* who works at a hostel canteen says he goes to the IJT for increasing the rates of food items or cooked dishes.
“We go to the Jamiat cabinet and request them to increase the charges because we go in loss or end up making sub-standard food. Sometimes they listen to us.” He confirms that “the canteen owners have at times paid the IJT to let them sell a particular food item.”
Haq Nawaz rejects this claim. “we are not involved in any kind of business on campus, it is part of our organization’s rules.”
Student opinion
It is not just the ban on select beverages, but also the control that the IJT has over administrative affairs such as canteen food which students are bothered by.
Ahmad* a student of (BS Hons) Bio Tech says “there should not be a ban on products because of a religious perspective, nor should there be a ban on Shezan because it is produced by so and so”.
Muhammad Shoaib wants the freedom to choose what he wants to eat or buy. A recent graduate of Mass Communication, Shoaib says “I don’t like that I am not allowed to buy the brands that I want because there is an organization of students, a group of thugs which does not get along with them (the product distributors) because they do not pay them the extortion money.”
Female students while complaining about the lack of choice at canteens also find the segregated canteens an inconvenience. Sehrish Mehmood says when she goes to the boys only canteen, the workers refuse to sell them anything.
Fatima Mushtaq, a student (BS Honors) in the department of Philosophy says they get caught between the VC administration and the IJT. “If they want a segregated canteen why do we even study in a co-ed institute? Why can’t the university decide who will make such decisions for us, the administration or the IJT.”

The question is whether boycott is the way of HOLY PROPHET [P.B.U.H]? So when we look upon the life of the HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H), who is to us the ultimate torch bearer and the one to be followed by all of us, in all walks of life.Now we return our question,whether boycott is his holy path.So when we ponder upon his life we never come across an incident when HOLY PROPHET (P.B.U.H) boycotted any one whether they are the idle worshipers of Makka or the Jews of Madina but they were always his opponents who sorted out BOYCOTT their only solution .So its our own choice to follow whose footsteps?
at the time of prophet swa there was no shizan so if he didnt stop us to drink it than who you are ?????????????????????????????????????
My late grandfather was from Bangladesh formerly East Pakistan. It was around 1977, he once told my grandmother that Islam will be the cause of disaster for Muslims in Pakistan. He also added if Bangladesh comes under the political influence of India then it will be saved or else they too will face the music. This entire story was told to me by my grandmother yesterday :-)
People were annoyed with Maya Khan's vigilantism and people power resulted in her getting fired from her job. Why then is it OK for IJT to prevent a boy and girl sitting together in a canteen when the institution itself is co-ed?
They call it Pakistan but they make it Pleedistan.
@Mazher Arshad: "This is biased reporting. They haven’t shown the interviews of those who want Shezan banned in Punjab University. I have also studied in PU and some of the students who are being interviewed in this video were my class fellows but there were many others who didn’t want Shezan in PU."
The people who do not want to drink Shezan should simply not consume it. It is illogical to prevent other people fro buying a product just because you do not want to use it.
It was shameful act or decision what has been taken by the people who really does not know the true jist of Islam. Infact every man who is a true muslim has not such narrow minded thinking. Such foolish people what are playing politics in the name of Islam. While banning the shezan products Islam become strong then i myself boycott these products firstly. But awful such people are instigating the simple Muslims against the Ahmadi Muslims.
@Ahmed:
Before we start worrying about other countries should we not worry about the persecution of Christians and burning of churches and bibles in our country?
Why these all so sensitive people are silent on Holy Quran burning in Afghanistan????
IJT should accept the reality of its black role in threatening students even shopkeepers.the holy purpose for these negative deeds is just to serve Islam...
There you go - a one-sided story. Talking about policing - IJT is still the largest force in KU - but none of this sort ever happens - I don't buy this crap
@Mohammad: Sensibly said
when Made in Pakistan is not accepted by Pakistanis, don't accept the world will accept your products.
@Mujahid Shah: Ever heard of freedom of choice?
@Hasan, Don't call me sweetheart, I very well know what you are trying to say, Never show dubious face in public forum.
I'm not denying your fact's, but you only know one side of coin. India under BJP leadership went into boom particularly IT and telecom. Every body that time was almost sure that BJP will return to power, but did it happened ? No, People showed that riots between brothers can never make country stable and still they are sitting in opposition in spite of congress playing dirty politics at center. I ask you a question, why you are not pointing congress as non-secular. In 1984, Rajiv Gandhi himself said that all Sikh will be slaughtered and it happened in Delhi with 2000 sikhs. But you guys are obsessed with only Muslims and target only the party which is against Muslims.
I went to RSS school from class 11th to class 12th. I pride myself saying that they really imparted good education. Education in field of Physics, Chemistry, Maths not in field of Hindu Gods, Not against any Jews or Muslims or Christians. Not even once we had any talk about religion in school.Teachers knows very well that imparting education makes people mature and not ignorant like you, who thinks Jews don't have any right to live in this world or don't drink coke made by Ahmedis. And for you kind notice, I got to know about my school that it is RSS funded only when I came to my 2nd Year of 'College, because their job was not to impart hatred or make publicity stunt but education.
Yes, there are people who is fanatic in these groups, and will always be there. You need to choose wisely and that's why we have election. Do you know what is the difference between India and Pakistan. We both have poverty, health problem, infrastructure problem and the list is endless. But we proudly installed Election Commission who can help to choose mass leader, and this was the words from Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan failed.
Take a look at your education system, do you think it's balanced ? Trust me, you need to look the video of Najam Sethi, at least he has courage to speak truth. When you will learn what is happening with Muslim's in Palestine, what your god said, what to follow, how is hindu's, christians or any other religion are infidels, instead of Science, Maths or Economics how will you grow and why you want to grow, when your entire life is destined only to your god instead of betterment of society.
I ask you simple Question "Tell me any Pakistani Muslim who won any kind of Nobel Prize" ?
Some Jamiat members have written that interview of those students should be shown who do not want to drink Shezan.Well! very simple, those who do not want to drink Shezan, they are free to abstain from it. And those who want to drink it, they should be free to drink it. Doing price control in PU does not mean that Jamiat should be allowed to impose its fanaticism on others.
its totally propaganda against those people who drink Shezan. i always drink shezan it is not harm full
dear great muslims it's my humble request from you that if it is right to stop using shezan and other sach things than why you are using computers, mobiles, air crafts, medicans, wapons, clothes and a lot of other things which are made by jeuish, christians and others,,,,,,,,,
well dear all no one is doing any good to Pakistan. Everyone is having debate easiest thing to do.Kindly, try to take part in the better future of Pakistan Pakistan, is a blend of liberal and conservatives. Majority believes in Islamic values and its very much necessary to have segregated areas for privacy. This is a stupid complaint that we want to buy products from the other cafeteria; if not facilitated you can demand from your cafeteria. Living in UK I have seen many places in hospitals segregated for the sake of privacy. Schools for boys and girls are separate so they are called wise, disciplined and blah blah and we are blamed to be nostalgic about past and conservatives; wow say whatever suits you. The best solution is to ban the products that are from our enemy countries instead of burning Obama's caricatures and tires and ruining and destructing our own vehicles.Marching and protecting in streets can't harm anyone; those American soldiers who have done blasphemy against Quran and Muslims once again. We Muslims are making fun of the people who just intended to give their share in pitching voice against an evil act.
this will be the result when you want religion over commonsense.
@Salman Shah: Wt wrong to Mr. Saloo. I am using Chinese products, beause China is our best friends. So why u are living in a Muslim country, leave it. go abroad and become slave like others. Why u are against IJT. I am not the supporter of any political parties or organization. But if some do for good i wll support. They protect ur sisters in all universities, colleges of the country. I spent 10 years in Hostel, i closley examined the role of IJT. All the top students come from IJT, any other else. Sorry all brothers, don't blame IJT.
Shabash " Jamiat " Shabash, Keep It up
One of My Friend studied in London School of Business & Economics, He said that he was a member of Mess & Cantene Committee in his college. This committee regulates prices and quality of all the stuff bieng sold on canteens and tuc shops. What hram if this is so in PU, difference is only this that it has been done by trimmed beared Mullaas or some people (may be opportunists) taking advantage out of this.
Dear Friends, This is injustice to blame the initiator, we should blame PU Management that they should better regulate it themself or ask students to elect a body for this (Students Union). Any my friends as a fashion we can critisize on Mullaas, but I would appreciate if any one would try to EXPRESS what's going on in Sindh Agriculture University, Sindh University and Shah Latif University Khairpoor. Believe me the easiest place to buy Sharab, Chars, Dhooda in their surroundings are the canteen of these institutions, where people feared to send their daughters and hostelers are no more considered as shareef people.
Criticize to Construct.
IJT should banned. These types of activity should not allowed in University premises. PU lift ban from Shezan and PEPSI.
Everything written in this article describes a Mafia-like organization that uses religion as a convenient cloak to mask an arrogant small-minded thuggish philosophy. Beware of people who seek to guard Islam in a Muslim country, if they had any guts (or much intellect) they would be trying to make their country united, honest, and strong; not harrass people in the name of religion.
Jamiat .>.... Great ..................ALLAH will reward you for this, and those fool who are terming you guys as fanatics, will come to know about the truth the day angel of death will arrive and rip their soul out of their body.
Absolutely hilarious. Don't want anyone drinking thae EVIL Pepsi!!!
Just ban everything and get it over with.
@HelloWorld:
Thank you sweetheart, but when you manage to stop religious fanatics like te BJP, VHP and RSS from being nationwide political powers in your country, then perhaps you can offer lectures elsewhere on how to deal with religious extremism.
Believe me, a few nutjobs on a university campus are less of a problem than tens of millions of angry Brahmins looking for the next Muslim-majority neighbourhood to torch and loot. If you're really in the mood to do some good, start cleaning out your own back yard.
H
Why are idiots like this at a University anyway? They belong in a tent awaiting the next caravan or tending the camels.
jamaatis should ban ladoo, chumchum and gulab jamun as well since they cause tooth decay. and puri and parathas because they are deep fried and cause high cholesterol. and they should ban cars, telephones, computers, medicines, watches, and ballpoint pens as well, since they are creations of the infidels. PU students should only have takhti and chalk and sit under a tree. after all, if it was good enough for the 7th century arabs, its good enough for PU students too. wait, there were no trees in 7th century arabia, well no trees except date palms. so all other trees on campus must be cut down immediately. and PU should raise fleets of camels.... and rent them at subsidized rates to poor PU students. but no currency notes should be used to rent the camels, since paper currency is a creation of the infidels. only pure copper/silver/gold coins can be used as currency. or sea shells.
@Mujahid Shah - it is individuals like you that make us overseas Pakistanis living in the west ashamed to admit we are from Pakistan. You have given the word Jahil its perfect definition
I studied at QAU Islamabd and the students there rooted out IJT. I still think because of no IJT influence the environment at QAU was so refreshing, and no wonder that QAU has been listed as the top university by HEC. Root out IJT from Punjab University and you will see the improvement in educational environment. As far IJT's stance on banning products produced by non-muslims is concerned, they should just give one example where our Prophet (PBUH) banned any non-muslim in Makka or Medina, or rest of the Arab region from doing business. IJT is simply a band of thugs and use religion as a tool for their own ends. Nefarious ends. Look at their lies: The IJT cabinet’s new President Rai Haq Nawaz says “We just represent the students, and because Shezan is owned by Ahmadis, the students do not want it on campus and that is why we do not allow it.” Will somebody in government ask this guy, as to who are you to ban something, and that how do you represent the student body? God save us from such fanatics
These people think being a good Muslim means FORCING others to live by their morals. If I want to drink Shezan, that should be my choice. The IJT should try to convince me (non violently) to not drink it, they shouldn't deny everyone the choice by banning sales.
IJT brought guns to Karachi campuses during the Afghan wars using their Jihadi connections. They started the guns in university culture. I am a witness.
Why're these students tolerating this mullahcracy? This should be adjudicated by the courts!
@Sara: Who care what you and your think alike buy ... The question is who will let those product sell and who has ultimate 'Control' over things ... u need to realize that u people are only living in this country and dies in the same ... that's it
@zeesh: You can't decide what is enlightened or dark ... We are enough to do that
Dear Author, From the article it is clear that your intention is not to ensure equity and freedom of choice rather direct publicity of commercial brands. What if you have had interviewed some of those people you have tried to traget and bring equilibrium in your poor biased article. And what if you bring the authorities attention to issues which can improve the life quality and health of students int he campus i.e Smoking, hygiene (inside hostels and canteens). Regards, J
@PakPower: Wishes and Desires ... keep living with them. Every inch of this country will be washed with some red liquid, sooner or later
these islamic buffoons need a lesson or two in world affairs,economics and life in general. Pepsi company like Cokecola is a publicly traded company and is owned by its shareholders. There is no one owner of any of these companies. Pepsi in Pakistan is operated by Pakistanis, just like coke, and employs pakistanis and so on.
as for the matter of shezab juice... i think people need to be consistent. stop using ak-47s because the commies made it, stop using the american weapons, stop using printing machines which might i add print Qurans as well. i mean basically stop living in this world because everything we use is made by non muslims and non people of the book.
The problem in Pakistan is that these mullahs have been given too much power, and are basically jaahils.
@Awais Aslam Mirza: How is Jamiat honoring women? when all the women in the interview don't care for ridiculous codes of ethics jamitias are imposing on them. Honor what they say! and stop meddling in womens lives using Islam as your ruse. If Khadijah RA could operate her business in a mans world, female students eating at the cafeteria can manage too!
A very biased one sided article about Punjab Univeristy..Im not in favour off IJT but still we need to recognise the work they do in the university. This includes helpin poor students, paying for rent of students if they are struggling, organsiing transport for female students. etc etc. It was very strange to see the students and the name people above all belong to the Ahmadi community.. Rabia , you really need to bring a little professionalism in to your reporting and not attempt to create hate. although i do not agree with the manfiesto IJT but we can not fault their sincerity to the Punjab university and there across board support for all. PSF, MSF and even the eilte children go to them in the itme of need, we must learn to give credit where credit is due. THis balme game must stop.
Why is the IJT even allowed to operate in an educational institution? They should be banned from the campus. Let the students get what they go there for, an education. They don't attend to be terrorized by a political party. Where "gundas" rule and the only way you can survive during the term is by going along with them.
fake stroy, fake name. these bais journalist just make such story in there home for cheap popularity. challenge for u all. come to campus rite now. i will buy u shezaan juicer... dont believe on this cheap journalist. one thing more. i red comments most of the people r not students of P.U/ current or past.. and they r talking in the favor of this fake report... ahahaha. stupid people
After reading all these full of hatred comments against IJT now I know why PPP and PML are in power and why Zardari is your president. Why PPP won by-elections. Why PPP candidates got 940000 votes in one constituency. Cool .. People of Pakistan lagay raho ...
@Mujahid Shah: Hah.. what a hypocrite.. you're living in Liverpool and talking like this. And stop defending persecution by using Islam's name. Do not tarnish the name of my religion through your ignorance.
Shame on you.
This ban on beverages was partially lifted in 2008, however, canteen workers, owners and students say beverage distributors pay the IJT for permission to sell specific products.
by 'permission' i presume bribes ?
@Mujahid Shah: Yeah? & the laptop or the phone or the internet browser you used to write here was made in Pakistan? Right!! And am Sir Paul McCartney. (FACEPALM)
All these fanatics should be rounded up and shot. There w should be no room for ignorance in this world. Mujahid shah is a typical case of a blatant hypocrite. Such ppl are a cancer for the society. In the past I would buy food products of other companies but now after this idiotic banning I just buy shezan items.
With such acts being done we deserve to be spit in our faces like we are being done in the west.
I am a student of PU. There are lot of questions about IJT. How they call themselves student organisation after harassing and threatening all students through arms?, after they shot students claiming against there so called Ideology?, after firing at teacher's house?, after beating teachers?, after taking 'Bhatta' in the name of IAANAT?, after going against the fair decisions by administration for STUDENTS?
shame to hear that now everything will be banned under the name of Islam. Those who don't obey will be bombed or slaughetered.
Interesting how they've successfully fused the Talibanization and apartheid of Pak's college society with their communist price control (no generous subsidy here!), yet self profiting cartel. And anyone who challenges that gets a good thug beat down in the name of religion...yup, progress...
No wonder we are the LAUGHING stock of the whole world! It's crazy & insane.
@fido: bhai is Jamiat is responsible for all these??? i know neither mullahs nor liberals has done sth good for pakistan, my pt was only about the report if the writter crying on Shezaan & pops she should mention and we all should acknowledge the price control by Jamiat shouldnt we??
Banning is wrong. But i never think Shezan is very demanding brand. Shezan is just one of brand sold in Pakistan. There are no. of brands which are commeicially more popular.
@Visibly Invisible:
They are making profits thats y they are running their shops for tens of years, these price checks was very accurate i can bet, the writter or anyone should have research on it and prove it.
@TLW: Totally wrong. I am not IJT supporter, but I have witnessed many good work of the organisation. They always support poor students, care orphans, etc. Why Pakistan is facing many problems today. just think for a while....................
@Ammar Adnan: "disregarding their active participation in the betterment and progress of the country"
Somehow I must have missed that.
what a shame that names of students had to be changed to protect them from Jamiat.. If some one knows actual meaning of Terrorism, this is exactly what it is. Chief minister and governor of Punjab, its time for u to take notice
dear all, one thing that is quite evident after reading dis article is the ignorance and reluctance that we as a society show when judging the role of islamist organisations in the world around us.we always find it easy to criticise and pass literary judgement on the character of these organisations disregarding their active participation in the betterment and progress of the country. even when the welfare chapters of these organisations such as Al-Khidmat and al-rasheed are discussed the over-sightedness and pessimism of the so called liberal and secular minded scholars and bloggers is readily apparent.contrary to it we overwhelmingly recognise the contributions of much much smaller NGOs just because they have fancy names and are owned by celebrities. such is the level of hypocrisy and duality that most of us impart while our own participation for the cause is questionable!
@Ehtesham: Did you ever stopped to wonder who was subsidizing the cost of so called discount? Why in Pakistan we are not prepared to pay the real cost of things and let free market dictate. Put yourself in the shoes of the PCO wala, if you were running the business would you charge Rs. 2 per unit after paying the phone company Rs 1 per unit + the rent of the shop + salary of the employee + equipment cost depreciation. The PCO wala needs to run a profit too as this is his sole source of income.
Pakistanis do need a lesson in economics, may be only then we will realize as a country how pricing works.
@ht312: well, can u give me single evidence that jamiat has stopped selling of shezan in campus on their behalf, we admit that IJT has no authority to decide what the student want to buy, but as student manager IJT has right to facilitate the students. Today stuff are available at affordable prices.
@zeesh:
No jamaati has yet started manufacturing these good. Once they do then IJT will use the name of prophet to ban other brands from PU so their Jamaati brethren can financially benefit. It’s all about money. Religion is just used as a cover.
@ehtishan buddy,
All those things you mentioned above are good news but banning stuff made particular countries or communities does'nt make sense. We Muslims have not made a single breakthrough in technology and health over the 2-3 centuries even though we held great kingdoms.
The fact is that we at this forum having this discussion is only because they were built buy Jews & Americans. Most of the Pharmaceutical research is done my Jewish companies. We can't even assemble a CRT TV or a Suzuki FX engine ourselves forget micro processors. We Muslims had the chances and the resources but we wasted our resources building pointless buildings and now we are dependent on the west.
The only way to stop dependence on the west is by raising ourselves to the level where we can actually do genuine R&D so that in the next 50 years we might invent something revolutionary.
@YLH: can u provide us any single evidence according to your hatred post ? plz dont mention such a youtube link , i am also graphics and video editor so dont send me any link of youtube as evidence, there are no any one has any evidence against IJT , they are all converting there "bughz" in words.
@Mujahid Shah:
"Why we buy products which gv profit to those who are using the money against the Muslims. We should promote our local products"
Isn't shezan a local product? and before the royalty income (what you are calling profits) go back. You pay salaries to 1000's of people (most probably Muslims employed here), they pay the government taxes, they generate income for other business, many foreign companies have charity programmes in Pakistan. In short 90% of the income generated stays in Pakistan and only 10% goes out. So you want to damage there 10% income by damaging 90% of yours?
"these beverages are not healthy and causing many health problems, especially stomach, teeth decay"
So a student body should decide what's healthy for you? Isn't that your choice? Then why not just ban every product that's not good for health including mutton and beef.
@Awais Aslam Mirza: "If students do not like Shezan then what is the fault of the IJT?"
Then allow the sale, if the students won't buy it the canteen owners won't sell it. Simple economics, where there is no demand, there will be no supply. IJT has no authority to decide what the students want to buy. Student bodies are formed to address the issues to the management. Thats it.
this is a one side of picture... Please do show other side of picture too.
@zeesh: Islam is still applicable as past.
This is biased reporting. They haven't shown the interviews of those who want Shezan banned in Punjab University. I have also studied in PU and some of the students who are being interviewed in this video were my class fellows but there were many others who didn't want Shezan in PU.
They must have shown the interview of those students as well who are against Shezan.
@Mujahid Shah: lol... You are joking surely? I notice you are using a computer made by Chinese communists or infidels, designed by Christians or atheists, to connect to the Internet, which was developed from DARPAnet, a research project of the crusader zionist US defence establishment
According to reports manufacturers of Shandy Cola are pro-Jamaat Islami. It is a case of financial extortion disguised under religious cloak just as IJT always do ie use the name of religion for their own interests.
@zeesh: Jamiat is protracting women's honor in punjab university according to islam.
Assalam o Alaikum,
i just wanted to add one thing back in 05 winter i went to PU from Karachi for Study and stayed at Quaid e Azam Hostel No 1 (New Campus) being a student i was very tight in terms of money and unfortunately my mobile phone charger went of order and i went to Barkat Market where the small mobile phone market is i found the nokia charger of 150 Rs and i dnt have enough money then i came back to my room with nothing. next morning i ask one of my friend if he know where i can buy a cheap charger he laughed at me and took me to tuck shop where i bought that charger in just 70 Rs more than half the price at barkat market and to my surprise they are exactly the same....then i came to know the "JAMIAT has a price control Comitte that works for students" secondly the PCO call charges at that time was very anoying for me but in PU it was around 2Rs per unit....in rest of the lahore it was 4 or 5 Rs... if i exactly remember i had a breakfast in 10/12 RS with scrambled egg, toasts and a cup of tea... i also remember "Water Melons" and other fruits in the hot weather of lahore in a very reasonable price..
I always thanks to Jamiat for all that...
that is insane. nobody has the right to dictate to me what to drink and what not to drink.. i dont want to give this right to anyone, even my father for that matter. who are they to dictate me?? these obscurantist elements should be eliminated from all educational institutions.
Stop driving on that road because it was made using US aid.
@Mujahid Shah: Are beverages the only things made by non-Muslims? Next time someone falls in your family, don't buy western medications as they are all made by the infidel west or produced under licence by local companies. Sheer hypocrisy!
Ignorance institutionalized, brought to you by Jamat-e-Islami.
It's a vicious propaganda against the islami jamiat talaba. If students do not like Shezan then what is the fault of the IJT? Why is it not written that the goods are available on cheep rates on canteens due to jamiat?
Good decision of the PU canteen owners and IJT. We should love our Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). Why we buy products which gv profit to those who are using the money against the Muslims. We should promote our local products. So, these beverages are not healthy and causing many health problems, especially stomach, teeth decay, etc. I request all the Muslims, especially students to love our beloved religion Islam and follow our the step of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). This step also should be taken in all universities of the country. IJT is not only responsible to oppose, but other student organisations should also come forward. I love my Islam, the true religion on earth.
We faced it...and its islami jamiat e talba...they are doing all stuff themselves...and stoppping other..
