The court ordered that the summon notice be printed in London’s newspapers. The hearing of the case will take place on April 3, 2012.
The court also directed that a petition to constitute a larger bench be sent to the Sindh High Court Chief Justice Musheer Alam for hearing.
On May 12, 2007, at least 50 people were killed as political activists fought pitched battles on the city’s streets ahead of the chief justice’s arrival.
On that day, the then dysfunctional chief justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was scheduled to address the silver jubilee celebrations of the SHC bar association and all parties in the opposition, including the Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Awami National Party, organised a rally in his support, to escort him to the venue — the SHC building.
The MQM had also announced a competing rally. The roads leading to the airport and SHC were blocked by shipping containers. Lawyers and journalists were maltreated by gun-toting goons, all in their teens, wearing caps, white shirts and jeans and riding in white cars. The then CJ of the SHC, senior judges and others were prevented from entering the court’s premises by these men.
Several petitions, including a suo motu one, were filed but the proceedings were dropped during the interim set-up after Musharraf proclaimed an emergency and suspended the constitution. After Musharraf left, applications for the restoration of the petitions and proceedings were filed.

@Uza Syed, Missji or Mr.ji! Even if these 'amateurs' are thugs, they surely deserve a chance over those by birth and habitually thugs, and whose thuggeries have been witnessed and borne by this nation to the teeth. So far as Imran Khan is concerned, I have seen a little bit of his think-tanks who do not come in fore front, who are relentlessly working behind the scene, and who are really the gem of persons, both professionally and characteristically. For their relentless hard work to bear fruit, Imran has to come to the power. And for coming to power constitutionally, he albeit needs people with face value, people to be electable! You people have chosen parliamentary democracy. In parliamentary democracy, the public representatives' assembly is the power house, which according to Karl Marx is nothing but pigs' stable/husbandry. So, you dumb headed blind people, allow Imran at least once come with 'electibles' available in the market, and then see if he forms his government according to his tall but very pertinent and precise claims or not. If he could not (probably he would not, because where in a country people like you reside, the developing of a good governance would not be an easy task at all!), then you could and should howl and yowl to your heart's content! Until then why such howling, eh?
Missji or Mr.ji! you are not at all alive to the reality, you are not aware of the sanguine situation prevailing at every walks of life because of complete lack of governance, and juggling and haggling by two so called big parties, and their smaller boot lickers. The early this nation gets rid of these professional liers, jugglers and players with nation's emotion, would be immensely the better. Try to realize and understand this. It will not take any paisa extra for this!
@Disgusted: Political matters and its knowledge------it sure won't be coming from your this amateure, a naive of a politician------if you wish to believe in this thuggery, well you are in the right place. Yes, it's that 99% that I belong and that's who I'm worried about. Like I said your this 'heroes' would be first out with his team of Tareens, Quraishees, Swatis etc. right on that plain that is being used to trick us in inciting this chaos and disorder the so called tsunami. Strange to see how blind people like you can be---damn it go and find out where this fake 'Kaptaan' lives and also his team of thugs------what did you say-----yes sir, that's exactly where your these saviours live in -------- "palatial" houses.
@Uza Syed, Without doubt you have good command over English, and you have a good power of expression; expression of whatever you want to say, whether this makes any sense or not, and whether this carries any logic or not. But you have to get more mature and more knowledgeable on political matters, and more practical knowledge of how 99% of poor Pakistanis are living. Mere blind thinking and following of certain groups or creeds does not make any sense. If you are not a very highly privileged one, if you are not a person who lives in a palatial palace in some of big cities' very posh areas, and lives in an outlandish environment in the land of the very poor and deprived, who can only see his/her gorgeous and prosperous backyard, you will not understand how much complete overhauling of everything is required in this country; how much and how far the dirt cleansing is required, to give the majority of this country a mere right of simple and peaceful living. Anyway, the matter of discussion was "musharraf's summoning by a high court of Pakistan". I only wish, you feel compelled to go to any court in Pakistan to get some trampled rights of yours without the backing of any of your clouts that might be carried by you due to your (supposed) privileged life, just as a simple Pakistani. Then I will ask you, how much now you love to see and have the status-quo intact!!!
@Uza Syed, the "tsunami" the people are waiting for is neither anarchy nor destruction. This is a much needed cleansing process. The huge sheer dirt - moral, mental, physical - that has piled up in the country, needs cleansing by a brute force. This force, only this force, will be tsunami. And the country very badly need this, if it wants to survive a little bit! This tsunami is also needed to cleanse and wash away those who cannot differentiate between anarchy and cleansing process, because of blind following one or the other freakish 'shaheeds'!
@ehsan malik: "It is about time MUSHARRAF PHOBIA in pakistan stopped. The elected governament are persuing his policies but still blame him for everything that is wrong in our society. He made few bad decisions in power which he has had the guts to own. No leader in the world would allow anarchy to florish in his country, and in this regard Musharraf was no different,"-------------Agree---absolutely right, "No leader in the world would allow anarchy to florish in his country"-----------however, there are some who claim leadership but design to create anarchy (tsunami!!!!!!!) and wish to benefit from even more death and destruction any tsunami can and usually does inflict upon the innocent people in the society. Those among us who can still think must do all possible to resist any destructive phenomenas like tsunamis and cyclones and floods or stroms to be forced upon us.
@Chanakya: Indeed you're right! The parliamentary committee consists of his cronies!
@Uza Syed:
thank you! i fail to understand how our people are so stupid and gullible that someone says he's responsible for may 12th, so like parrots everyone starts repeating the same thing. what happened to rational thought and analysis. how could a president be directing people be killed on the street. musharraf may have made mistakes, but this act was one of treason. and that to me is ridiculous
@Mirza: "Civilian Government'? This is Chaotican Government, a 'government' without governance!
It is about time MUSHARRAF PHOBIA in pakistan stopped. The elected governament are persuing his policies but still blame him for everything that is wrong in our society. He made few bad decisions in power which he has had the guts to own. ...........I mean they really have NO interest in solving people issues or country issues.
PPP govt is throwing every card they have to buy more time and put army some under pressure, they really have interest in solving people issues or country issues.
When Musharraf was in Pakistan (after his resignation) no one spoke a word about it and now since everybody knows that he is not returning back: Rehman Malik vows to issue his red warrant; courts are issuing summons; political parties are demanding for his trial against Bugti’s murder; and we (public) are witnessing just another episode of "exile and justice".
No matter how many notices will be published in local or foreign newspapers, one thing is sure that Musharraf is not going to come back to Pakistan, even he will not come to contest in the forthcoming elections.
I would suggest fans of Musharraf that they still have time to change their loyalities and join PTI for a better future.
wasn't PTI also responsible for trying to make an entry into Karachi, when they didnt have permission and it cost so many people their lives and private property was lost/damaged....why not ask IK to come and present his side of the issue?
Nonsense! ------- Musharraf, Musharraf, Musharraf------responsible for everything that went wrong-------it seems Pakistan before President Musharraf and post Musharraf Presidency has been an ideal country for us to be really feel good about. Why don't you all go back to the press archives to refresh your self-imposed amnesia.
Waste of time. Do you think he will come willingly ?? Think again !!
Waste of time. Do you think he will come willingly ?? A commando is brave ( in his case I doubt it ) but not stupid.
"The MQM had also announced a competing rally."
Another summon should be put in the London’s newspaper for "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named"
FBR should issue him notices in respect of his Bank accounts and the funds in them. And his Dubai penthouse and London property.
bring him back to Pakistan and let justice be done
We let Ayub and Zia off the hook. Let's make sure Mush is dragged in courts for his crimes against the republic . Successful action against Mush will insure that no yahoo commando will ever again mount a coup against a democratic setup.
@Mirza: "This is a clear indication that the army’s strangle hold on power is being challenged by the civilian govt."
The civilian govt on the contrary is alleged to be conspiring with the Americans to make changes in the army set up.
Best wait for the memogate commission report. I hope findings by the "independant judiciary" are accepted by all and sundry.
Great...
Vienna,February 24,2012 Wait out nervously. It is a long wait but there is no escape for wrong doers.Because, they live as does Gen.Parvez Musharraf on the laps of the very people, whom they have wronged. It is a net where fish breath their last.Common Pakistanis, however are the outside the net fish awaiting nets. How sad.Their presence closer to the shore, a reality of geographical proximity is their undoing. Taravadu Taranga Trust for Media Monitoring TTTMM India --Kulamarva Balakrishna
The only way to save Baluchistan is by bring back Musharraf and put him on trial for Bugti murder.
Interesting developments. Summons should also be printed in Dubai and US newspapers!
Was not there an outstanding absconding warrant in different case already in place?
With the coalition govt gaining strength and moving toward completing its first term, Mush's days are numbered. This is a clear indication that the army's strangle hold on power is being challenged by the civilian govt. Great news for the civilians that Mush would have his day in the "independent judiciary".
