Militancy in Khyber Agency: Three killed in blast

One person was injured when militants opened firing on a passenger vehicle in Dwatoi area of Tirah valley.

Three people were killed in a blast in Bara, Khyber Agency on Wednesday, officials said, while a militia claimed to have killed two militants after an exchange of fire in the area.


According to sources, an explosive device, planted on the side of a road in the Sipah area of Bara went off, killing a man identified as Sahib Khan on the spot, while injuring two others.

Local sources said that two others succumbed to their injuries. However, their names could not be immediately ascertained.

Meanwhile, the militia, which has been aiding security forces in Bara, exchanged fire with militants in the Gul Malang Adda area of the Malakdin Khel Tribe. “Two militants were killed as a result,” said sources within the Lashkar.

On the other hand, one person was injured, said officials, when militants opened firing on a passenger vehicle in Dwatoi area of Tirah valley in the area of the Kokikhel Tribe said sources.

Attacks through IEDs and landmines have become common in an area ravaged by militancy and sectarianism.

Bara has been under curfew for almost three years now.
