SARGODHA: More than 100 employees of the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) observed a strike on Tuesday and protested against the government’s failure to regularise their services. The protest was led by Ramazan Laghari, the Nadra Employees Union president. The protesters gathered outside the NADRA office at Khayam Chowk and blocked traffic for more than two hours. They vowed to continue the strike if their demands were not met. They said more than 950 people in Sargodha region had been working for years, but had not been given regular jobs. They said despite promises by the government to regularise the employees, he said, nothing in this regard had been done. The protesters dispersed after Muhammad Javaid Iqbal, the Nadra general manager (Sargodha region), assured them that the regularisation process had been initiated. He asked the protesters to be patient and end the strike.
