Tennis: Qualifiers to face Monfils, Roddick
Bulgarian Kutrovsky outlasted US qualifier Dennis Lajola 6-7, 6-3, 7-6.

Qualifiers Dimitar Kutrovsky and Denis Kudla booked matches against the highest seeds at the ATP San Jose Open with three-set triumphs at the $531,000 indoor hard-court event. Bulgarian Kutrovsky outlasted US qualifier Dennis Lajola 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 in their first-round match to book a second-round date with French top-seed Gael Monfils. Meanwhile, Kudla outlasted American wild card Jack Sock 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 and advanced to a second-round meeting with second-seed Andy Roddick, a three-time San Jose champion.
