Two dead, five injured in PPP Lyari office attack

Dad Rehman and Sumar died in the attack, while injured also include two women. Investigations underway.

KARACHI: A grenade attack on a Pakistan People's Party (PPP) office in Lyari left two dead and five injured, including two women, on Tuesday.

According to the police, four unknown assailants on two motorcycles, hurled a grenade at office PS-111 in Nawa Lane, killing Dad Rehman (aged 40, s/o Jumma) and Soomar (aged 50, s/o Nabi Bux).

The injured included Aqib (aged 16, s/o Arif), Qasim (aged 45, s/o Ghani), Naseem (aged 35, s/o Sarwar), Rubina (aged 45, w/o Saleem) and Nazia (aged 18, w/o 18).

Talking to The Express Tribune, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) District South, Naeem Sheikh said that investigations were underway and it could not be confirmed whether the deceased and injured were party workers or bystanders.

The bodies and injured had been shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.
