Eid Miladun Nabi: Saturday declared a public holiday

CM said law enforcement personnel throughout the province must remain alert on the occasion to prevent security lapses

LAHORE: The Punjab government has declared Saturday, February 4, a public holiday in the province on account of Eid Miladun Nabi, which is on Sunday. The decision was made at a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, chaired by Shahbaz Sharif, to review security arrangements for the holiday. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that law enforcement personnel throughout the province must remain alert on the occasion to prevent security lapses. He ordered the setting up of a sub-committee to review the security arrangements. He said that elected representatives, the home secretary and the Punjab Police inspector general should visit various districts and meet with ulema to discuss security arrangements there. He said that the routes of Eid Miladun Nabi processions throughout the province should be decorated with lights backed up by generators. Earlier, the home secretary gave briefings on the security arrangements. Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Auqaf Minister Ehsanuddin Qureshi and the chief secretary also attended the meeting.
