LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought reply from the federal and provincial governments and the election commission by February 14 on a petition challenging the abolishment of a clause that required political parties to hold intra-party elections. Petitioner Advocate AK Dogar argued that the removal of the clause was in violation of the Constitution and democratic norms and was tantamount to promoting dictatorship in political parties. He said that the political parties had become sub-parties of a few influential families. He requested that intra-party elections be made mandatory. Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed is hearing the case.
