FAISALABAD:

A young man was shot and killed over a property dispute in the Dijkot police station precincts on Monday.

According to police officials, Wehlan Kalan Chak No260 RB resident Mujahid had a long standing property dispute with Rashid, Sajid and Jamshed over the division of a portion of land.

On Monday, Mujahid was allegedly gunned down by the accused outside his house. He was rushed to the hospital by local residents but collapsed a few hours later.

The victim’s family staged a protest and blocked the Lorry Adda Road for traffic for several hours.

His relatives placed his body in the middle of the road and protested against the accused and the police for not registering the case on time.

They also burned old tyres and chanted slogans demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.

The protestors alleged that the murder occurred due to the negligence of the Dijkot police claiming that they had already forwarded several applications to the local police regarding threats made to their lives but no action was taken in this regard.
