"He finally decided today that he would accept the recommendations," of the executive committee of the All Pakistan Muslim League party to delay his return, party secretary general Mohammed Ali Saif told reporters at a press briefing in Dubai on Friday.
"This decision (of returning) will be deliberated by the core committee of the party," he said.
Musharraf had earlier in the month announced his decision to move up a pre-announced scheduled to return to Pakistan in late January.
Friends and supporters had urged Musharraf to put off an imminent homecoming after Islamabad said he would be arrested if he returned from more than three years of self-imposed exile in London and Dubai.
Speaking to CNN in Davos, Switzerland, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said Musharraf would "certainly" be arrested if he set foot back in Pakistan, in accordance with a Parliamentary resolution and court orders.
Musharraf had promised to fly home to contest general elections as Pakistan's government sinks deeper into a major crisis, squeezed by the military and the judiciary.
The former President faces two Pakistani court warrants for his arrest in connection with the 2006 death of Akbar Bugti, a rebel leader in Balochistan, and the 2007 assassination of ex-prime minister Benazir Bhutto after her own homecoming.

Yesterday's dictator should realise 9 years of illegal rule was enough. Musharraf is no longer welcome in Pakistan any more than Hosni Mubarak would be welcome in Egypt!
Mussarff is a must for Pakistam . He will remain in active politics even from out side from Pakistan like Altaf .
Its game over General Musharraf. Now please leave us alone. political scenario is already complicated enough without you interfering.
What a chicken. Some ex army chief this guy is
@Grace: Absolute lie!!
WEll we still waiting for him My Vote is for PM
Musharraf deserves nothing but the jail. Look at the Muslim world where dictators are being held accountable and being thrown in jail but a minority of confused Pakistanis want to welcome back a dictator!
Not surprised. Not first time he backed off from his promises. Remember when he promised to take his uniform at a certain date, then didn't (for benefit of the nation he claimed). I guess in a way he is doing another favor to the nation by not coming and staying away.
Geo Musharraf- Pakistan first.
Before "Pakistan first.'' Now ''Pakistan never'' The coward commando could do a fever by telling the public what ''advise'' he received from DG ISI and his fellow middle eastern dictators regarding coming to Pakistan. May be you are more scared of GHQ now, than any other body or individual. Who are not even ready to extend him the favor they extended to Gen. Ayub, Gen. Yahya and Gen. Niazi. Of course he was lucky enough for being not given the ''favor'' which Zia and his basti lal kamal fellows received. Would the coward commando please speak out now about his candid opinion for the happenings post 2007. Think about writing now ''Out of the line of fire.'' Musharaf does not have any spine to return to Pakistan for sure.
Big Games ... Big Times politics ... Bravo... Musharraf gave amnesty to PPP. Now they are not letting him come. Is this real ? Answer is no. Some thing cooking i can smell. Wait and see how they make us fool again. For your info they are already planed the course. Get ready people of Pakistan to be fool again.
PM this is good decision,Pakistanis deserve Zardari & Nawaz......Pakistanis are the most stupidest nation ever....they even can not differentiate between good leader & bad leader.. PM enjoy your LIFE,Who did enough for Pakistan.I salute U.
Arrest Musharraf, Nawaz Sharif, Zaradri, and Gilani.......Imran Khan should and will put these cowards in jail when he is PM/President.......these people go against everything Islam says and then try to live as if they are real muslims? POwer, Greed, Money......all of the characteristics of Muawaiya, Yazeed, Abu Bakr, Uthman, and Omar.......Live like the Beloved Prophet (PBUH) or Hazrat Ali a.s./Imam Husayn a.s. or any of the aley batth family members and watch Pakistan soar as high as the sky can take it.....wake up people.....the truth is infront of you all, dont be another Zaradri and ignore it.
@Azam Mirza: Musharraf is neither loved not respected by most Pakistanis. In fact I would say that most Pakistanis, myself ,included blame him for the nation's problems especially the instability and selling off the nation for his own personal ambitions to stay in power as a dictator. Musharraf needs to be tried with treason and jailed upon his return as a clear message to the next general who thinks he can take over with a gun.
I think it is a wise decesion. Let PPP govt sink it self. Musharf comes and all attention will divert to him.
@Pervaiz Lodhie: This nation deserve PTV only. And if behavior is good.. STN/NTM transmission. Thats it. Musharraf did wrong to give liberty. He did wrong to establish this media. They have no idea how much responsibility they were given.. SamaTV is chasing dating couple these days..!!! duhhhhhhhh :(
@Malik: Musharraf claimed that the CIA has secretly paid his government millions of dollars for handing over hundreds of al-Qaeda suspects (dead or alive) to America. I guess that is the money he is using for his stay in UK.
@Where is Democracy?:
I think he made a good decision .At present the corrupt government is trying to divert attention and let them not divert this .Musharraf will come soon Insha Allah and will keep his promise . He is not scared of any one and has not made a deal with any one
@Cautious: The only way he can come back is by playing some kind of Kargil in Pakistan. He may help plan army take over of Pakistan. He may hatch a plan to get millitants backed by Pakistani army attack present government. He can always deny army's involvemnet and claim it was Pakistani freedom fighters that got the government.
A coward to the end...For those who feel no shame and sympathy for dropping bomb on their own people ought to be cowards!
Coward Commando :D
It was clear that establishment will block enterence of Prevaz Musharraf in Pakistan; Mr. Imran Khan is new tool of establishment in Pakistan: Now Musharraf have to wait for failure of Imran Khan and for sure, Imran will: Establishment will form Islamic Alliance with Imran Khan which was not acceptable to Musharraf:
Who really cares?
sir please come we are waiting for u we need a change in Pakistan
One has to cogitate this and wonder what the disconnect is... I really respect Mr. Musharraf's leadership capabilities and his vision. I also think he could be a powerful leader for the vision of Pakistan without running for office. If you look at nations with democratic processes. Ex-office holders continue to be powerful leaders and visionaries and forces of good for their respective nations without charging back up to the office at any disruptive cost to the nation......
My point is a leader can lead irrespective of re-gaining that particular office.....
Lolz Our Brave SSG General. May ksi say nahi darta. Hurrah!!!
Blunder after blunder.
this is a good disicion of president musharaf.i think has to delay his return till the date of next ellection is announced.so that the time of CJ will alsocome to an end.
Pervaiz musharraf . was the best and most honest head of state of pakistan in living memory. He did most thing right but he also made few mistake's. He is desperatly needed in pakistani politics to bring some sanity which is sadly missing from all other parties except PTI. I have heard current leadership putting party interest ahead of national interest without blinking an eyelid. Each party accepts the curruption and blames the other party that they were also currupt.These people should not be allowed to even smell the corridor's of power. Pakistan needs IMRAN KHAN and PERVAIZ MUSHARRAF .
Decision taken by The APML core committee in Dubai is very positive. Musharraf should delay his visit to Pakistan though I guess Musharraf was reluctant to return to his nation who desperately await him. They are convienced that Musharraf is the only person who can bring the country out of crisis.
Good decision Mr. Musharraf. You already had the opportunity to change destiny of Pakistan. You did set in motion many good things and placed many good seeds during your tenure like 1)empowerment of Media & Women 2) education of poorest via NCHD 4)ending military rule & accepting democracy. You also made some fundamental mistakes of taking favors, surrounding yourself with some wrong people. Now for time being let others perform while you help keep them on track & honest.
He has no role in current or future political equation of the country. A retired general has no role in ouor politics.
Musharraf would have stayed in the government even today had he not chosen the wrong advisers due to which he came down from top to bottom.
Even today, I don't think that he has the right kind of advisers who can take out from the bottom and make him sit at the top.
i support to Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharaf. i m still waiting for him to arrive Pakistan. Please come to country and shut all crupted politicians. Musharaf is the only Leader in this country to Change the situation. Political situation is not good right now. please take powerfull decision to come back Pakistan. We are missing you Mr Musharaf.Pakistan come First. General Musharaf Zinda Bad, Pakistan Painda Bad.
The heading of this news item is misleading and malicious. The original date given by Mr. Musharraf is 23rd March 2012. He has been attempting to come earlier than the announced date. If it weren't due to the corrupt politicians of the country supported by some corrupt elements of the ungrateful media, he would have already become a potent force in Pakistani politics and deservedly so.
He will never return ...he being a bully is a coward man.
once the situation calms down he will def return inshallah. this was a calculated strategic move to not give the PPP government a lifeline on its own sagging popularity.
@Ali. Mir:
he's not sitting at home like you are. the man has some talent and education.
I just want to know where did he get all this money that was reported in Pakistan news paper. FBR wake up please
Pakistani politics is a circus show - everyone is corrupt and the media is in on it; everyone is only concerned about how much wealth they can loot.
With any luck one day Pakistan will get an honest and determined govt - one that will negotiate extradition treaties which will bring Mushy home whether he wants to or not.
Love and respect for the former president will always support him whenever he will comeback ill be one of those persons who will goto Airport to welcome him salute to him Pakistan First
The guilt of the scary cat!
