Good as new: Sukkur Barrage reopens

The gates of Sukkur Barrage were lowered after a two-week closure for maintenance and cleaning.

SUKKUR: The gates of Sukkur Barrage were lowered after a two-week closure for maintenance and cleaning. The barrage was shut down on January 6. According to Abdul Aziz Soomro, who is in charge of the barrage control room, during the closure all gates of the barrage were oiled and greased. The canal waters were drained so that they could inspect the filter blocks.
