Aisamul Haq Qureshi termed his first-round victory in the men’s doubles event with partner Jean-Julian Rojer a huge confidence-building step for the pair as they beat Croatia’s Ivan Ljubicic and Germany’s Cedrik Marcel-Stebe 6-3, 7-6 in the 90-minute battle.
“There were lots of ups and downs but the timing of the win couldn’t have been better,” Aisam told The Express Tribune. “Both of us have gained confidence in each other. We went down twice in the match but fought back and our coordination is better.”
Aisam and Rojer will now take on the unseeded German-Canadian duo of Philipp Marx and Adil Shamasdin tomorrow.
