Teachers’ Strike: Classes resume after assurances
A high level committee assured teachers’ representatives on Tuesday that their demands would be fulfilled.
RAWALPINDI:
College teachers called off their strike after three days and decided to return to teaching after a high level committee assured teachers’ representatives on Tuesday that their demands would be fulfilled. Teachers’ representatives met a three-member committee headed by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah in Lahore and were assured that CM Shahbaz Sharif would announce a package for them soon. Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association Rawalpindi President Ilyas Qureshi said Sanaullah assured them that the demands would be fulfilled once the CM returned from abroad. “Following the assurance, the teachers called off the ongoing strike and will resume teaching at their respective colleges from Wednesday,” he said.
