ISLAMABAD: Lt Gen (retired) Khalid Naeem Lodhi has filed a petition against his removal from the defence secretary post in the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday.

According to the petition, Lodhi was removed from his position without any enquiry or a show cause notice issued to him.

Lodhi has claimed in the petition that he was removed because he had refused to sign a government affidavit related to the memogate issue to be submitted in the Supreme Court.

The petitioner has requested the court to declare the government’s order as invalid.

Lodhi was removed from the post of defence secretary by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on January 11.

“Prime minister has terminated the contract of defence secretary for gross misconduct,” a senior government official had told AFP.

Nargis Sethi was given the additional charge of Defence Secretary.

Earlier, a petition was also filed in the Lahore High Court challenging his removal.

Good job. Let's not leave any powers with the people’s elected PM and in turn in the hand of people. Let Military and the Judges decide everything from now on. May be we can rid of the parliament too.
