KARACHI:

Exports rose 10% during July to November against exports volume in the same period last year despite security issues and energy crisis in the country, said Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Chairman Tariq Iqbal Puri.

Financial crisis of European Union EU states also affected exports, said Puri while meeting Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) President Mian Abrar Ahmed on Saturday.

He added that TDAP changed its approach by diversifying destinations by including China, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asian States, Gulf Cooperation Council countries on its radar.

In year 2012, trade through Karakoram Highway will resume with western China.

He urged KCCI to organise seminars with TDAP to create awareness in business community on unexplored markets.

He agreed to allocate KCCI Pakistani pavilions at international exhibitions including TDAP’s Wexnet for Women entrepreneurs to be organised soon in Dubai.

Abrar said that the only solution to uplift and strengthen economy is industrialisation and enhancing exports.
