MULTAN: Workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz organised on Sunday various birthday ceremonies for party chief Nawaz Sharif in Multan.

Chanting slogans in support of Nawaz, the workers said that their leadership was carrying forward the vision of Pakistan’s founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who Nawaz shares his birthday with. They said by coming together in solidarity, they wanted to send a message that they had faith in their leadership.

Earlier this week, in a blow to the PML-N, the party’s Multan candidate Javed Hashmi joined Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Individual ceremonies were organised by the students, women and city wings of PML-N in southern Punjab where participants prayed for the health and longevity of Nawaz, a bright future for the party and prosperity for Pakistan. Various wings also organised rallies and processions in a show of strength.

“It is Allah’s will that the creator and saviour of Pakistan were both born on the same day,” Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, PML-N’s MNA from Multan, told The Express Tribune. “PML-N must not lose heart over Hashmi’s departure and continue working for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.”

According to sources within the PML-N, special instructions were issued by the leadership to boost the morale of party workers through these ceremonies. This is the first time that so many individual birthday ceremonies were organised for Nawaz.

My dear country men, Nawaz is a mutli billionaire. He has the best medical facilities that money can buy. The people chanting these slogans however are probably poor and only there for a free meal. They should be praying for themselves and asking Nawaz to return some of the money he looted from the country for the masses welfare.

From the last estimates his personal fortune was at least 2 billion dollars. When was it all accumulated? How much of it was amassed during the reigns of General Zia, the same establishment that he is now fighting against?
