FAISALABAD:

Scores of Christian community members staged different demonstrations against continuous, unscheduled and repeated load shedding on Christmas eve.

Hundreds of members of the Christian community took out protest rallies from Christian Town, Waris Pura, Circular Road, Samanabad and other parts of the city and marched on various roads. The protesters chanted slogans against the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) and the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and said that all churches remained dark for hours even on Christmas. “We don’t even have electricity on Christmas,” said protester Francis Masih. The protesters regretted that almost all the functions and ceremonies in connections with Christmas were affected in the wake of massive load shedding. “The govt should have made some arrangements for the Christian minority on Christmas. We are in the dark even on Christmas,” he added. They demanded that the govt take strict action in this regard.
