PESHAWAR:

A man was killed and three children injured when an explosive device, mistaken for a toy, exploded in their house in the city’s suburbs on Saturday, police said.

One of the children had found the device in a nearby mountain and brought it home in Urmur village to play with. Sadaam Khan died as a result of the explosion while Gul Shah, Zakir Khan and Subhan Shah were injured.

They were immediately shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, militants blew up a boys’ primary school in Sultankhel in Landi Kotal, a sub-division of Khyber Agency early Saturday morning by detonating explosives planted around the school building.

Two rooms and a verandah of the school were smashed after the explosion. However no loss to life was reported. This is the second incident of a school being demolished by the militants in the last two days.
