BAHAWALPUR: Two minor children were killed as a result of aerial firing during a wedding ceremony in Bahawalpur late on Tuesday evening.

Iqra, 7-year old daughter of Lar Khan, and Dilshad, 9-year old son of Ghullam Abbass, died on the spot after a bullet hit each of them. The firing had been carried out by the groom’s younger brother at the wedding ceremony.

Investigation Officer City Police Station Lodhran Amir Yar told The Express Tribune that the marriage ceremony was postponed after the incident and the police registered a case 302 (PPC) against Makhan Khan, the accused.

Khan had fled from the scene after the incident and the police are on a look-out for him.

The police said that they would be able to tell whether his weapon was licensed or not once Khan is arrested.

They also claimed that it was a watta satta marriage and both the families were trying to compromise with each other.
