Cricket: Pakistan will be a ‘potential threat’ says Vaughan

LONDON: Former England captain Michael Vaughan foresees Pakistan as ‘a potential threat’ to England in the upcoming Test series starting from January 17 in the UAE.

The series will be the first meeting between the two countries since the ill-fated one last year, which was marred by the spot-fixing allegations during the Lord’s Test.

“Pakistan have a rock-solid bowling department,” said Vaughan. “They should also be looking at England and thinking they can catch them out in the first Test. But what makes England vulnerable against Pakistan is that the latter have the power to take 20 wickets.”

Vaughan warned England against ‘dreaming of remaining top dogs forever’ in light of the tougher challenges in the coming year.

“We saw England players losing their cool on the field against India in October when things started going wrong. England are number one in the Test rankings but must acknowledge there are areas of their game they need to improve, starting with playing in the subcontinent.”
