Ali Zafar & LPNY: Musical pair

Actor-singer Ali Zafar, who has turned composer for his upcoming Bollywood film, London Paris New York (LPNY), told his fans earlier that his film’s music is not going to be conventional. The singer’s publicist, Ammara Hikmat, has also announced on Twitter that “Ali Zafar has taken two female singers from Pakistan with amazing vocals to add that oomph to LPNY’s music”. The names of these singers have not been disclosed yet.

Music enthusiasts are speculating that the female singers could be Quratulain Balouch (QB) or Hadiqa Kiyani but nothing has been confirmed as yet.

Zafar, who is always experimenting with sound wanted to bring something new and fresh to the table and so he encouraged his co-star Aditi Rao to sing with him. “Normally it’s either the hero or heroine who lends his or her voice to a song. But in this case, I decided both of us should sing since Aditi also has a nice, soothing voice.”

However, making music for LPNY was a strenuous task for Zafar as he was shooting for the romantic comedy simultaneously.  “The project took off suddenly and in a month’s time we were rolling,” he reminisces. “I used to jam on Skype with my composer back home before returning to my studio in Lahore for the recording.”

Zafar even rehearsed the song with Rao on Skype since she was in India and he was in Pakistan most of the time. However, the final mixing of the tracks took place in Yashraj Studio in Mumbai.

According to koolmuzone.com, Ali also told that all the songs reflect the character of the three cities, “The song dedicated to London will be happier with simpler notes, as compared to the one set in Paris that will be edgier. The track set in New York will be more refined.”

If sources are to be believed, singer Sunidhi Chauhan will also be singing a duet with the Pakistan heart-throb for the upcoming release, which is produced by Fox Star Studio and Goldie Behl’s Rose Movies.

The film, written and directed by debutant Anu Menon has six tracks composed by Zafar and is scheduled to release in February 2012.
