RAWALPINDI: The military and political leadership should publically deny the presence of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad and call the US military operation in May for what it was: a mere drama. This was said by Jamat-i-Islami (JI) Chief Munawar Hassan on Sunday at a public rally arranged by the JI at Liaquat National Bagh in Rawalpindi. He also called upon the Pakistan Peoples Party to quit the government and announce fresh elections, saying that the party’s new leaders are not mature enough to govern Pakistan. The JI chief insisted that a complete and impartial inquiry must be carried out into the memogate issue that led to the ouster of former Pakistan Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani. Dr Saeed Wasim Akhtar, head of JI Punjab, said that if elected, his party would fix Rs15,000 as the minimum monthly wages for labourers.
