Exchanging talent: Promoting cross-cultural educational ties

Azerbaijan varsity signs MoU with NUML.

Azerbaijan Sate and Economic University (ASEU), Baku and National University of Modern Languages (NUML) will promote inter-university cooperation between citizens of Azerbaijan and Pakistan.


This was stated by Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov in a ceremony at NUML on Tuesday. He said the two countries enjoy historical, cultural and religious ties. He added that “we have unanimous views on world affairs and have supported each other at international forums including the United Nations and other forums.”

Shikarov and NUML Rector Major Gen (retd) Masood Hassan signed an agreement for cooperation in academics.

Hassan expressed his full support on behalf of NUML to ASEU in the pursuit of academic activities between the two universities.

He added that under the Teachers’ Exchange Programme, NUML could offer courses in Urdu and English while ASEU could teach Russian and Azeri at both ASEU and NUML.

Under the agreement, the two institutions would establish and encourage mutually beneficial scientific, technological, educational and other relations based on the exchange of staff members, exchange of students and study-abroad programmes.

The two universities will also establish joint research programmes, exchange postgraduate students of specific research projects and materials of common research undertaken by researchers at both universities.

Representatives of both universities will meet frequently to evaluate the agreement’s implementation.
