KARACHI: Two people were apprehended at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi for possessing weapons. On Friday, a unit of the Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) recovered 12 pistols and 180 live rounds from two outgoing passengers. A customs officer, Qamar Thalho, said that the DEC staff intercepted two Pakistani passengers, Muhammad Ashraf Adil and Sohail Feroz, at the International departure lounge of the airport. They were to embark on the PIA Flight PK-268 to Khatmandu in Nepal. Both the passengers were carrying three large mechanical gears each, which the customs staff seized and cut open. The arms were inside the cavities of the gears, which had also been stuffed with sand to hide the weapons. Both the suspects have been arrested and cases have been registered against them under the Customs Act, 1969.
