Cycling: Bari claims long-awaited triumph

KARACHI: Kashif Bari emerged as the winner of the Lahore to Kasur Cycle Race in a field consisting of 50 cyclists in total. Bari covered the distance of 50 kilometres in the quickest time of one hour, 30 minutes and 33 seconds. Sunny took second position as he completed the race in one hour and thirty-one minutes while Mohammad Shammon secured third place after reaching the finish line a further one minute behind. Bari had previously secured a second-place finish back in 2008. “I have been participating in this event for the past four years,” said Bari. “I finished among the top five cyclists on those occasions, so it feels good to have finally won this race.”
