The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on October 27 for the combined group in the week under review witnessed an increase of 7.68% as compared to the corresponding week of last year.
SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs8,000 has registered an increase of 0.55% over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 171.36 points against 170.42 points registered in the previous week, according provisional figures of Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007-2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. SPI for the combined group registered an increase of 0.44% as it went up from 176.59 points in the previous week to 177.37 points in the week under review.
As compared to last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs8,001-12,000, Rs12,001-18,000, Rs18,001-35,000 and above Rs35,000 increased by 0.51%, 0.50%, 0.45% and 0.36% respectively. During the week under review, average prices of 13 items registered a decrease, while that of 17 items witnessed an increase with the remaining 23 items’ prices unchanged.
