BADIN: Thousands of flood victims in Badin, especially those without adequate shelter, face new challenges as winter approaches. “Acute respiratory tract infections are always a problem among children living in crowded conditions and things will only get worse as the weather cools further in November,” said a general practitioner, Amina Hasan, who works in Badin. The international and local donor responses to the United Nations appeal for raising $357 million to help the flood victims have been disappointing and the funding shortfall has been discussed in many political forums, including the National Assembly. The operations manager of the International Organisation of Migration, Tya Maskun, said that though the organisation requires $18 million more to deal with the situation.
